Happy Ever After is an unofficial fanzine dedicated to the ship of the Persona 5 Protagonist/Joker and Akechi Goro from Persona 5 Royal. This zine's content will center around fantasy-inspired content for the pair.

FAQ

What is a zine?

A fan zine (short for "magazine") is a collection of collaborative fan-work containing writing and art, typically focused around a theme. It can be physical or digital, with or without merch.

What’s the theme of this zine?

Any fantasy related idea or AU featuring Joker and Akechi Goro from Persona 5 Royal as a ship.
We know fantasy is a broad term, but it can include anything from western fantasy ideals and extend to fantasy and mythos from other cultures! This even includes science fiction/cyberpunk aesthetics. The sky's the limit!

How old do participants need to be?

As we are currently thinking about having an NSFW version, we require all participants to be at least 18 years old.

How do we know we can trust this zine financially?

We are fortunate to be working with AmaZine as our combination finance, production, and shipping mods. The two of them have worked on previous projects and show proof of success with previous projects. Rest assured that we're in good hands!

My question isn’t answered!

CONTRIBUTOR GUIDELINES

You can view more about the zine and general application guidelines on our information document.

PAGE ARTIST

Page artists are expected to present a completed, full color piece of 5x8 or A5 size, with at least a basic background. A black and white piece, if done for aesthetic purposes, will be accepted, but it must still contain a basic background and full detail work.✦ If doing a comic, it may be between 1-4 pages, but may not exceed that number of pages. ( This can also be tweaked depending on the number of pages and the formatter's choice! )✦ No OC's or self insert characters will be allowed as main focus characters in pieces as we'd like to focus on ShuAke / AkeShu.✦ Portfolios must have 5-10 pieces in it, preerably fully completed and polished pieces that best represent the work you'd create for the zine. Please do not exceed 10.We are looking for the following elements in your portfolio:
✦ Anatomy (the structure of the body)
✦ Composition (the way in which different elements of artwork are combined or arranged)
✦ Color (understanding of color theory, complements, and how colors interact with each other)
✦ Linework (the weight of your lines and precision)
✦ Background (how they work in combination with your composition and complexity)
✦ Lighting (enhancement of the piece through an understanding of highlights and shadows)
✦ Stylization (your distinct style and sense of artistic freedom!)

MERCH ARTIST

Merch artists will be expected to make up to 3 merch items
(If you wish to make a type of merch not listed please clear it with mods first!)
Digital merch types:
Desktop Wallpapers, Mobile Wallpapers, Emotes, Icons, Phone App Icons
Physical merch types:
Prints, Stickers, Keychains, Washi Tape, Lanyards, Badges, Enamel Pins, Bookmarks, Standees, Wood Charms, Shaker Charms, Note Pads, Wall Scrolls, Magnets
Portfolio
(Portfolios should generally represent the style you wish to use / what you wish to make.)
✦ Include Past Merch Designs (recommended to show a variety of merch types)
✦ We suggest including at least one previous Shuake / Akeshu piece or individual pieces of each of them to show how you generally draw them, but this is no longer required.
We are looking for the following elements in your portfolio:
✦ Use of color
✦ Individual style
✦ Composition
✦ Anatomy (chibis should still show a general understanding of anatomy)
✦ Posing

WRITER

Writers will need to submit 3 samples with a minimum of 300 words and a max of 2,000 words, with one being a fully finished fic within that word cap. A separate portfolio may be linked.
✦ Story must be fully contained in the piece (clear beginning, middle, or end)
✦ Should be read on it’s own without another story/more plot involved
✦ At least one piece must have a fantasy setting/contain fantasy elements
✦ We suggest that at least one piece focus on Shuake/Akeshu, but this is no longer required.
✦ Other relationships are fine but must be in the background
✦ Pieces submitted can be SFW or NSFW but MUST BE PROPERLY TAGGED
✦ Dead Dove tropes are allowed but must be tagged. Shota/lolicon, scat/piss & gore, non-con, necrophilia, pedophilia (including age gap), incest, watersports are not allowed for this application.
✦ Make sure to remove any personal names, usernames, or any other identifiable features from your pieces. This is to ensure that pieces are read with as little bias as possible.
They will be judged on the following:
Literary Aspects - Use of figurative language, overall style, and narrative flow.
Technical Aspects - Proper punctuation and grammar (with leniency for literary effect) and the use of syntax.
Plot - Clear beginning, middle, and end that fits within the frame of the piece, and if the plot is compelling.
Characterization - Realistic depiction of dialogue and voice, and if they are written in a fashion that is believable and true to the original source.
Editing - If the piece has been polished for publication.
The following table is a rubric we will be using to look at writer apps:

ScoreLiterary AspectsTechnical AspectsPlotCharacterizationEditing
4Sophisticated figurative language, unique style, and smooth narrative come together to make an outstanding pieceExcellent knowledge of grammar, proper punctuation, and syntax is complexClear beginning, middle, and end; Plot is resolved within piece and is compelling to readPhenomenal characterization, clear voices of the charactersReads like a final draft, needs little or no additional editing
3Figurative language, style, and narrative come together to make a good pieceGood knowledge of grammar, okay punctuation, and syntax is decentClear beginning, middle, and end. Plot is left on a cliffhanger, needs more context, but is engaging to readGood characterization, but not very clear voices of the charactersReads like almost a final draft, needs little editing
2Elements are present but not used correctly, style is basic, narrative is choppy or inconsistentPoor knowledge of grammar, punctuation needs work, and syntax could be improvedHard to make out beginning, middle, and end. Plot clearly does not fit length of piece and is not very interesting to readOkay characterization, muddled voices of the charactersDoes not read like a final draft, needs some editing
1Figurative language is disregarded, style is copied/reminiscent of another author, narrative is hard to followLittle to no knowledge of grammar, punctuation is nonexistent, syntax is amateurNo clear beginning, middle, or end. Plot is too large for piece and hard to engage withPoor characterization, no distinction of voices for charactersReads like a first draft, needs editing
